Navy unit moves to new home on 220th birthday at Fort Detrick
The Naval Medical Logistics Command moved into Building 521 after a year of renovations costing about 200000. Capt. Terry Irgens noted the space consolidates staff, with over half of 100 workers now in the new building and a plan to move the rest next door. The ribbon cutting, held to coincide with the Navy’s birthday, featured Capt. Thomas Defibaugh and Storekeeper Louis Jones cutting the cake, symbolizing the transfer of wisdom and vitality. About 10 civilians and sailors received awards from the Navy.
