Supreme Court Integration Rule Attacked
A large crowd filled Bachmans Hall in New Windsor to hear George Washington Williams urge caution on the Supreme Court ruling that outlawed segregation in public schools. He supported the decision but questioned its reasoning while Robert M. Furniss Jr. attacked the action as unnecessary and warned of potential incidents from integration. About 300 MPC members and neighbors attended as petitions and public meetings aim to block further integration in Union Bridge and New Windsor schools where some students had already been admitted last month amid some disturbances.

Mrs Diggs Acquitted in Shotgun Death Case Near Sugar Loaf Mountain
A Circuit Court jury deliberated about five hours before finding Dorothy C. Diggs not guilty of man slaughter in the shotgun killing of her husband William Robert Diggs at their Sugar Loaf Mountain home. Testimony described the victim as peaceful when sober and volatile when drinking, with neighbors noting a troubled reputation during intoxication. The state argued Diggs posed no real threat, while witnesses described periodic family strife and Diggs’s long railroad employment. The judge instructed the jury to return a simple guilty or not guilty verdict.
