Byron widow chosen as Sixth District Democratic nominee

Mrs Byron accepted the Sixth District nomination after Rep Byron’s death as local committees across Western Maryland endorsed her. State leaders noted a special election would not occur until November, keeping the seat vacant until the winner is sworn in January.

Health Ministry Seminar Set For Oct 20 21 At St Ann's Hagerstown

A health care ministry seminar, first phase of a 22 hour pastoral visitor training program by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, will be held October 20 and 21 at St. Ann's Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave in Hagerstown. The session covers listening skills and visiting practices, with a second workshop on November 18 for certification. Frederick woman active in community affairs and clubs

A Frederick resident, longtime participant in Garden Club and Frederick Beart Association, served on the American Red Cross board, member of the Frederick Historical Association, and active in All Saints Episcopal Church. She studied at Hood College 1982 to 1984 and married Goodloe Byron in 1952.

Byron's corneas donated to Maryland Eye Bank transplants

A man and a woman in the Maryland area received successful cornea transplants from Rep Goodloe Byron. The corneas were obtained after his death from a heart attack at Washington County Hospital and sent to the Maryland Eye Bank in Baltimore for two recipients with damaged corneas.
