A Baltimore man, Thomas E. Carroll, 33, died when an attractor-trailer left Route 40 west of West Friendship in heavy fog. The vehicle struck a tree after breaking through a guard rail and overturned into a field. The trailer, believed en route to Hancock, was damaged. a tank detached. State Police investigated with Troopers Stallings and Doonan.

Mary Murphy Survives 90 Foot Fall In Shenandoah Park
In Luray Virginia on October 13 Mary Murphy, 21, fell from Crescent Rock in Shenandoah National Park to a ledge 90 feet below near a 200 foot chasm. She suffered a dislocated shoulder, a fractured right elbow, and scalp lacerations. Forest Rangers, aided by her sisters, lowered her by sling and hoisted her to the top after a two hour descent. she was taken to Page Memorial Hospital in very good condition and may return home to Washington this week.
