Frederick County school board implements a two year study based central processing system to handle ordering processing and cataloging of library materials. The center will centralize finances and records expedite purchasing and reduce librarian clerical work. Books arrive fully processed and are then shelved and cataloged locally.
The article details plans to insert a sign out card and envelope at the processing center, with originals from H W Wilson Company photographed for multilith copies. It notes expansion to audio visual materials by September 1967, temporary location on East Church Street, later moving to Hayward Road warehouse. Carl W. Hinkle named head, a library science student and educator with ties to West Frederick and Walkersville schools.
Fire Marshal Charles H Howett says Operation EDITH will be held in Montgomery County at 7 30 pm today to rehearse home escape routes. He notes seven local fire deaths last year and urges every family to draw and practice an escape plan when alerted by radio and television.
