Man dies in steam accident near Dublin Virginia
Frank Lavender, fireman from Pulaski, killed in Norfolk and Western wreck near Dublin. His engine crashed into a freight engine on the main line. Lavender’s legs were crushed by falling coal and he was scalded by escaping steam. By the time help arrived, he had died. The engineer survived. fog and speeding cited as causes. Lavender had married just one month ago.
