Zonta District 11 wraps three day conference in Frederick
About 210 delegates from Maryland Pennsylvania New York New Jersey Delaware and DC attended a three day Zonta District 11 conference at the Sheraton Inn Frederick with sessions on growth personal involvement and service. Gov. Jane Garvey honored clubs for achievements as Amelia Earhart fellowships funded wells in Sri Lanka and community scholarships. Donna Lane Frederick Club president was elected district treasurer for 1986-88.

Drug awareness program planned at Frederick YMCA
A Drug Awareness Program will be presented at 7 p.m. October 15 at the Frederick YMCA on North Market Street by Cpl Austin F Pohl of the Frederick County Sheriff's Department with the Frederick Chapter of Parents Without Partners. The program covers types of abuse, their sources and availability, and is free and open to all concerned citizens.

Hawkins descendants hold 16th reunion at Etchison Church
The 16th annual reunion of Thomas and Susan Hawkins descendants met at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Etchison on Sept 29 for a pot-luck. About 75 relatives attended led by Hampstead youngster Michael Watkins five months old great great grandson. Prizes honored longest married and youngest members. A memorial service closed the gathering with remembrances of Hawkins relatives who passed.
