Hundreds of hours of free labor by Damascus Sev enth-day Adventist members culminated in a $25 000 debt free church dedication. The brick edifice on Etchison and Damascus roads seats 150 and houses Sabbath School and a parochial school with 17 pupils this year. Ground breaking was in 1948 and services began in 1949, with three Takoma Park officials participating in the dedication. The church is the first Adventist building in Damascus. Ex Union Official Shot To Death In Dallas

Allegany Circuit Court judges George Henderson and Patrick Schnauffer took under advisement a challenge to Cumberland's anti Communist ordinance. The law bans Communist literature in the city and requires Communists to register at City Hall. Plaintiffs Clair Mease William N Coleman and Arthur M Schusterman filed suit to erase the law and challenge convictions of Coleman and Schusterman who were the first arrested under the ordinance. They had appealed $100 fines and seek an injunction. Coleman and Schusterman admitted being Communists then said they had resigned.

Four Children Die in Vermont House Fire
In St Albans Vermont a small first floor fire trapped four children within their beds and a baby-sitting uncle was badly burned trying to reach them. The victims were Keith Judith Ann eight Donna Lee six and Darrell James one. The uncle named Oilman Blute, about 90, sustained serious injuries. The blaze is believed to have started on the first floor.
