Gemayel ties to CIA amid Lebanese turmoil

Reagan reportedly approved $10 million in aid to Gemayel's militia, while Israel pressed for influence and a peace treaty. Gemayel's complex persona blends ruthless power with a vision to end Lebanon's chaos, even as he faced assassination before his planned presidency.
