Fire at Deerfield home causes 300000 in damages
Walkersville firefighters battled a fierce blaze at 278 Maple Place in the Deerfield subdivision. Capt. Scott Campbell said the rear of the two story home was engulfed and two firefighters were pulled out when a front door entry met a ball of fire. The fire, fanned by high winds, caused substantial damage, and investigators with the Maryland Fire Marshal's Office ruled the blaze accidental. The discovery was made by Charlotte Ponzio. Deputies report two Pontiac thefts elsewhere in the county as investigations continue.
