Finan Named Appeals Court Judge By Tawes
Gov. Tawes announced the appointment of Atty. Gen. Thomas B. Finan as an associate judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals. Finan will be sworn in next Thursday, succeeds Judge Prescott, and serves until the 1968 general election for a 15 year term. Deputy Atty. Gen. Murphy will become attorney general until the winner takes office in January.

A Viet Cong unit surrendered en masse as U S Korean and South Vietnamese forces advanced on an encircled Communist force on the central coast. The surrender brought total prisoners to about 300 in five days of operation, with nearly 550 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong killed in the pincer maneuver north of Qui Nhon.
