Judge Refuses Block on Maryland Public Accommodations Vote
A Baltimore Circuit Court judge refused to block Maryland's statewide public accommodations vote on the November ballot. Judge Wilson K. Barnes retained jurisdiction, leaving open the possibility of later nullification if fraud or forgery in petition signatures is proven. The ruling allows the measure banning racial or religious discrimination in restaurants and lodging in Baltimore City and 11 counties to proceed to voters on Nov. 3.
