Australian teachers swap homes in Walkersville year
The Majernik family from Yarram Australia arrived in Frederick for a year as part of the International Teachers Fellowship. Ray Majernik, a Damascus High School math teacher, notes US schools emphasize sports and social life, while adapting to left-hand drive on American roads. The family toured coast to coast, logging about 20 000 miles, and praised Maryland crab dishes and US landscapes from deserts to pines. They plan short weekend trips and keep a travelogue as they adjust to life in Walkersville.
