An East South Street woman, Mary Ellen Harris, 45, was injured when her car left the road and hit a tree at 209 West South Street around 5 a.m. She was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and charged with reckless driving. Damage listed at 4000 dollars. Nearby, Vernon Leslie Keeney, 25, rear ended a utility pole on Franklin Street during a high speed chase. He was charged with speed greater than reasonable, reckless driving and disobeying a police order. He was hospitalized.

A 23-year-old Ladiesburg man, David Wayne Stevens, died from injuries after his car flipped on Md. 26 east of Frederick at 3 a.m. Sunday. Police say excessive speed led to the crash and the vehicle hit a utility pole, ejecting him through a window. He was survived by his wife Estella Ruth Earp Stevens, his parents Raymond W. and Martha Fogle Stevens, one sister Martha Millender of Hampstead, and other family.
