Homecoming Pilgrimage Draws 3000 to Odd Fellows Home

More than 3000 Maryland lodge and Rebekah Assembly members attended the twelfth annual homecoming pilgrimage to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Home near Frederick. The event featured a program with speeches by High Officials, bands, and a dress parade, followed by visits to grounds and buildings and generous lodge contributions.

Frederick welcomes new Salvation Army leaders Trittons

Adjutant Charles Tritton and Mrs. Tritton were welcomed Sunday at the Salvation Army hall in Frederick as the new heads of the local Salvation Army work. Major George Marshall and Louis L. Wilson led the event, with Tritton family stories and background detailing long service in the army and their education.

Deputy sheriff and warden clash over squirrel hunt incident

In Sugar Loaf mountain near Greenfield a dispute during squirrel season led to Deputy Game Warden Adamstown Ira Sears and Deputy Warden George Stone in a brawl after Sears allegedly fired three times with a shotgun. Stone said Sears attacked him and a friend intervened grabbing the gun. one shot was fired and a blackjack was used in the melee. Authorities planned to swear out warrants for Sears on assault and resisting arrest as the incident unfolded.

Stone testified that the seventh squirrel fell from Sears pocket during the melee and he delivered them to the game warden in this city. Sears initially gave the name Jones and later his real name, with the affair said to have occurred on his property.
