Rail link to Germantown urged as boon for Frederick

G A Chadwick Jr of Maryland Midland Railway argues an upgraded Walkersville to Germantown rail line could cost about 72.9 million but attract 75,009 tourists in the first season generating 6.5 million in gross area sales plus state and local tax receipts. He notes funding must be shared by city county and state and envisions a broader Frederick tourism boost and commuter rail along routes to Washington and Clarksburg with various alignments under study.
