Detour flood closures ease after heavy rains from David
Floodwaters from Double Pipe Creek swelled across Carroll and Frederick counties on Monday killing access to many roads. By late afternoon the number of closed routes began to decrease as water receded, with 41 still reported closed and officials hopeful for sun and a dry spell by midweek. Local residents, led by volunteers from Taneytown and Detour, evacuated homes and protected property while awaiting road reopening. The incident followed heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm David, with basement flooding in several houses and continued unsettled weather later in the week.
