Twenty years ago rain dampened Governor's Day at the Frederick Fair following an opening success. About 200 vocational agriculture students from five counties attended the Central Maryland regional FFA judging contest with dairy cattle, poultry and livestock divisions. Plans for a $500,000 Frederick Medical Center on Toll House Avenue were approved with excavation to begin in two weeks. Walkersville High School defeated Mercersburg Academy 2 in soccer with goals by Duncan Green and Warner. Mercersburg's Koster scored four goals.
