Britons Row Across Atlantic Reach Thames In 1966
British paratroop Capt. John Ridgway and Sgt Chay Blyth, who rowed the Atlantic in a 20-foot boat, arrived Ireland last Sept. 3 and rowed English Rose II a mile up the Thames under Tower Bridge. They called the voyage harder than the Atlantic but said they still dislike rowing. They noted the venture launched the book A Fighting Chance. Two other Britons died in a previous Atlantic attempt. Ridgway eyed a single-man transatlantic yacht race in 1968 if sponsored.

Control By Democrats Is Assured
Democrats appear solidly entrenched for Senate control after a landslide defeat of their 1968 presidential candidate. With 36 Senate seats, Republicans would need to gain 15 Democratic seats in 1970 to claim a majority, a near-impossible prospect.
