Hecht Defends Campaign Tactics In Mooney Challenge
State Sen. Alexander Mooney accuses Delegate Sue Hecht of duplicitous fundraising aimed at a future Senate bid. Hecht says donors know she seeks a state office and plans a spring declaration after the General Assembly. Donor records show Hecht raised about 91 thousand dollars in the past year, while Mooney's last year receipts total around 183 thousand. Hecht plans a Baltimore fundraiser December in the Maryland Club with several top Democratic leaders expected to attend.

Drug investigation continues in Frederick County
A multiagency probe into drug trafficking in Frederick County persists as authorities name indicted individuals from a six month operation named Operation Jackhammer. Over 100 officers served warrants across nearly a dozen residences, seizing handguns cocaine and documents. Indicted by a federal grand jury were Anthony Carroll Herbert Marshall Merrick McDonald David Reyes and Michael Weedon all of Frederick. Additional arrests include James Greenwald Lamon Young and Mark Simmons. No court dates set.

Rockville arson suspect in jail on two counts
A 19 year old Rockville man, Mike Belancur of 207 N Van Buren St, remains jailed on two counts of second degree arson with bail set at 120000. He faced prosecution alongside two young women released after posting smaller amounts. The trio allegedly set fires to two tow trucks on Aspen Hill streets, with Belancur admitting lighting a newspaper and tossing it into a truck bed. Parthena Papadopoulos, 21, and Athena Papadopoulos, age unspecified, were charged with arson and conspiracy. Investigation continues into a series of vehicle fires in Aspen Hill. Each count carries up to 20 years or a 30000 fine.

Fatal fire in Calverton sparks murder probe
Police and fire officials in Rockville Montgomery County investigate the death of 41 year old Calverton woman Kathleen Armory as suspicious after a early morning house fire at 12608 Summerwood Drive. Her long time boyfriend Edward Lewis, 51, was found critically burned inside the home and later hospitalized while his daughter and son escaped. Investigators say a match ignited flammable liquid leading to the blaze and Armory’s body was sent to the medical examiner for autopsy. Lewis remains in critical condition at Washington Hospital Center.
