Farm program rules tighten under 1984 Farm Bill in Frederick County
Time is running out as benefits will be denied starting January 1 1990 for farmers not in compliance. Farmers must farm highly erodible land per an approved conservation plan by their soil conservation district to remain eligible. If actively applying on January 1 1990, they have until January 1 1995 to complete required practices. Wetland protections also limit benefits. Call Frederick Soil Conservation at 473 4755 for a no cost farm plan.
