Frederick City Police data indicate 12 of 54 burglaries investigated in the three week period ending Nov 7 were solved or closed by arrest with two earlier B&Es also solved and one unfounded. Police urge citizen cooperation to curb repeat offenders and ensure custody pending court actions.
Frederick mayor Ronald N. Young and USPS official F X Biglin met to discuss leasing the 1917 Greek archi building at East Patrick Street as an option to demolition. They did not finalize any plan and will reconvene after further talks with Postmaster General Bolger and Rep. Byron.
Frederick County shoppers can buy on Sundays starting Nov 29 under a new law allowing four pre Christmas Sundays. Stores like JCPenney Eyerly’s Routzahn’s and Kmart will open noon to 5 pm with Wooles noon to 8 pm on the last Sunday. Most supermarkets stay open year round.

Washington reports the federal government technically ran out of money at 12:01 a.m. as Congress failed to pass emergency funding. Negotiators postponed a stopgap to maintain agency funding while House members receive a 4.8 percent pay raise, about 2,911 dollars a year, a move not mirrored for senators. The plan also grants senior civil servants a 14.8 percent pay hike, raising salaries from 40,112 to 57,300, with senators previously exempting outside income.
Frederic Musser, 27, of Cheverly was killed during an apparent robbery at his Marquis Restaurant in Hampton Mall Capitol Heights Maryland. Donald Brown, 22, Capitol Heights, charged with felony murder after a four car beltway crash and a pursuit ending near Rambling Hills in Largo. Brown admitted to injuries from the accident and was hospitalized.
