Twelve Indictments Returned by Local Grand Jury

A reconvened September grand jury returned twelve indictments including one against William Carter colored attacker of Miss Geraldine Kreh, with arraignment dates to be set. Carter faces assault with intent to rape and trial likely mid December. Mahammitt cleared of blame and to be released on order. Grand jury reported after a brief twenty minute session. jury excused until recalled by law or court order.

Dr A L Franklin Dies Veteran Maryland Doctor 54

Dr A Leo Franklin 54 veteran physician died at his private hospital. Requiem mass to be held Thursday at St Patrick's Catholic Church burial in St Patrick's cemetery. He studied at University of Maryland 1902 and Rock Hill College. He worked at University Hospital as clinical assistant and surgeon and ran his own hospital focusing on radium and X ray work. He served on Western Maryland Hospital Surgical staff and belonged to several medical societies. He was active in Democratic politics.

Perjury case over marriage to 14 year old bride

Clarence E. Smith 25 of Boyds Montgomery county was sentenced in Westminster for perjury in securing a marriage license to Edna Mae Hawkins then 14. A year in the house of correction was suspended on $500 bail and two years of good behavior. The mother testified the girl was fourteen, and it was noted Smith and Edna Mae Hawkins are living together with him as her sole support. The judge ordered two semiannual atonement periods during suspension.

Four Lost When Ships Collide in Lake Michigan

Four crew members of the steamer W. C. Pranz are reported missing after a collision about 30 miles south of Thunder Bay Island in Lake Huron. The Edward E. Loom rescued fourteen survivors from the Franz which sank after the crash. the Reiss Brothers radioed details verified by Rozi Mish operator.

Bodies found on Galapagos rock reveal Baroness De Wasner link

Los Angeles November 2 AP accurate descriptions place two bodies on a Galapagos rock. The smaller body matches Alfred Rudolph Lorenz of Paris, whose passport was found nearby. Lorenz was an estranged companion of Baroness De Wagner, brought to Charles Island by her about two years ago.
