First McDonald's arches replaced in Des Plaines move
The original Des Plaines McDonald’s, opened in 1955, will close in 1983 to be replaced by a larger, modern unit across the street. Some residents praise the landmark status, while others welcome updated amenities for customers. The new restaurant will honor McDonald’s history while expanding seating and drive-through capacity.
