John T. Best Jr. former Frederick County Democratic leader and Fair Board president died Wednesday evening November 17 after a lengthy illness. He was husband of Catherine Veirts Best and resident of Meridian Nursing Home. Born to John T. and Hester Preston Hallar Best in an old prominent family, he served on the Frederick County State Democratic State Central Committee starting 1970 and chaired it for four years. He worked for Blue Ridge Transportation Co beginning in 1942, later transferred to G Ban Co, retiring in 1974.
