Washington Convention Center to make its debut in January
The Washington Convention Center is nearing completion with an inauguration set for January 3, 198. The 0,000 square foot facility, built between 9th and 11th streets and New York Avenue, will host its first event two days after opening, an automobile show. It is touted as the eighth largest US convention center, with multiple halls and a large number of meeting rooms, and sits between the White House and the Capitol. The center aims to boost downtown redevelopment and improve access via Metro with extensive parking nearby and a major media day planned December 10.
