Extension Of Guard Training Opposed

Maryland Maj Gen Milton A Reckord said the proposed extension of National Guard summer training is unnecessary and unwarranted. A tentative Fort Meade schedule suggested three weeks vs the usual two, with discussions among state adjutants general and Army officials about 1951 plans. Reckord noted strong opposition from Guard officers and that dual schedules were prepared. A Second Army spokesman said the three week plan was tentatively adopted, but final choice depends on the 1951 international situation.
