Heated debate over New Market sewer taps and bids
At a New Market town meeting on Wednesday night residents heatedly debated a promise to lease 10 sewer taps to Milliner Construction for a convenience center, while only 24 taps exist. Mayor Shaw defended the deal as beneficial, though town attorney Mary Storm questioned the town’s authority. Bids for sealing streets and alleys were opened, with Mehrie Walter Paving offering the low bid, and the town also agreed to retire about $9,000 of debt on the town hall.
