Fagan murder trial actions discussed in Frederick County

William Robert Fagan Sr. refuses to testify in his murder trial as final witnesses prepare for a closing phase. Deborah Fagan’s brother Paul Kamman testified, denying threats. Prosecutors plan rebuttal witnesses while the state seeks to exclude any reasonable doubt. no murder weapon or eyewitness has been produced. Mrs. Fagan, 30, was killed January 6, 1992, shot twice at close range.

County finances rated healthy as growth offsets need

An independent audit endorses Frederick County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the year ended June 30. The report shows 1993 general fund revenues up 11.3 percent to 149.1 million, income tax up 15.4 percent, and 5.6 percent job growth to 80,354. A 4.5 million year end surplus was added to the budget amid state cuts and Social Security tax shifts for staff.

Independent truckers call for weeklong shutdown slows traffic

Independent owner operators and drivers say diesel price hikes driven by new taxes and cleaner fuel rules squeeze profits. Veterans recall Tarawa glories and modern obstacles

NTSB probes fatal plane crash near Walkersville

The NTSB and Maryland State Police investigate a fatal plane crash near Walkersville that killed flight instructor Eugene Martin Livermore Jr and student John Jancis, with Centre Aero Corp of Frederick identified as operator. The single engine Cessna had been rebuilt after a prior collision and crashed at 7:43 pm on Dansville Road, with witnesses hearing a crash and authorities arriving after 9:20 pm.
