A terrible gun accident occurred on a warship near the health wash bay of the Royal Sovereign. An artilleryman stood too close to the breech before firing, killing one officer and six artillerymen and injuring the captain and thirteen sailors. Bodies were horribly mutilated in the incident.
In Topeka Kansas on November 11 convicts from Fort Leavenworth held Sheriff Cook and Deputy Williams as shields while escaping from Pauline five miles south of Topeka. They forced Wooster and his wife to assist, wounded Wooster severely, and evaded a pursuing line of police. The captors escaped along a railroad track and were not immediately pursued.

A Black man died in the basement. Estimated loss runs to 100000 with insured amounts on stock and furniture noted. Authorities suspect a boiler explosion from the building’s steam heating setup.

Lancaster Pa Nov 11 Wenger Ranck of Bird-in-Hand was feeding a corn shredding machine when it jammed. While clearing the jam his arm and hand were drawn into the gears, the limb cut to pieces. His condition is serious.
Middletown Pa November 13 Josh Clouser about 17 was shot through the heart and killed instantly while wrestling with Clareice Hickerwell over the possession of a weapon. No blame assigned. Nearby a McKinley Monument dedication event occurred with Gov Van Sant in attendance.
