Deaf Access Services Receives 6000 Gift To Expand Interpreting
Deaf Access Services Inc. was awarded a 6000 gift from First Nationwide Mortgage to fund a staff interpreting position under its Community Interpreting Fund. The fund, started in 1992, links public and private partners to provide sign language services for deaf and hard of hearing residents in medical legal and other critical settings when funds are scarce. Executive director Ian Caster notes the gift will boost access to interpreters for those unable to comply with the ADA, aiming to raise awareness and broaden cultural resource access in Frederick County.
