Binghamton N Y November 10 Senator George E Green was arraigned before United States Commissioner Charles Hall on two more federal grand jury indictments connected with post office bribery schemes. He was held in 2500 in each case and the matters were adjourned until November 30.
Walderman T. F. McGahan of Amsterdam New York writes that Father John’s Medicine is the best for grip bronchial trouble and appetite. He says it relieved his choking bronchitis in two weeks and kept his child well after two bottles. He cites the medicine as free of morphine and stimulants and nourishing while curing.
Washington Nov 10 The House of Representatives of the 58th Congress opens with Joseph G Cannon of Illinois formally elected speaker and inducted into office. Old officers are reelected and committees to notify the president and senate are organized. Rules of the 57th Congress are adopted by voice vote amid a minor fight over committee balance. A bill introducing the death penalty for killing the president or other high officials is introduced, with provisions for life imprisonment for attempts and penalties for aiding, harboring, or conspiring toward such crimes. Other bills target tax on tobacco premiums and the creation of a Valley Forge national military park.
Senator William M. Stewart, at seventy six, long serving Nevadan in his sixth term, has married again following the lead of Depew and Platt. The bride is the widow of Theodore C. Cone of Georgia, marking a notable late-life alliance for the veteran statesman.
