Victorian Idea Out With Hoop Skirts In Frederick Politics
Three women volunteers in Frederick County political campaigns explain how feminine mystique faded as they canvassed door to door and staffed headquarters. Mrs Theodore Reeder, Mrs Dorothy Riddlemoser, and Mrs Geraldine Shelton describe their hours and duties, from answering voter questions to organizing barbeques and reminding neighbors where to vote. They stress voting as a civic duty and share personal motives for engaging in local campaigns.
