Reparations Division May Be Decided
Washington reports a US plan to have Far East Commission members consult with the United States in drafting interim orders to General MacArthur for reparations from Japan. The proposal aims to avoid charges of dictating policy while seeking a 13 to 50 percent share for claimant countries. If approved, the directive would go to MacArthur for action and then to the commission for review. Also noted was a failed test at White Sands on a lighter-than-air rocket.
