Cancer Research Advances Highlighted by Dr Heller at Hood College
Dr Heller of the National Cancer Institute told Hood College adults that cancer causes are still largely unknown, yet progress exists. He stressed teamwork, described cancer as rogue cells that threaten the host, and outlined four research thrusts from causes to treatment. He noted the Bethesda institute as a link in a larger effort and discussed emerging diagnostic and experimental techniques, including animal models and experimental therapies, with cautious optimism for future breakthroughs.
