Mt Airy Man Sentenced To 18 Mrs Term Mt Airy Man
Vernon Jacob Smith Jr of Mt Airy was sentenced to 18 months in the House of Correction by Associate Judge Patrick M Schnauffer in Circuit Court on a perjury charge. Retiring Camp Detrick leader Fitzpatrick to leave post in November
Lt. Colonel John W. Fitzpatrick, commanding officer of Camp Detrick, will retire from active duty in November after 28 years of service. Born in Philadelphia, the 53 year old officer earned degrees from Penn State and the University of Wisconsin and held major posts including chief of training in the Chemical Corps and commander of Edgewood Proving Ground before coming to Camp Detrick in 1953. He and Mrs. Fitzpatrick reside on the post with two daughters, Mrs. Charles H. Grant of Chisholm Minnesota and Mrs. John A. Dounal of Fort Campbell Kentucky.
