Landlords adopt FIST tool in Frederick drug war effort
The Families Insisting on Safe Tenancies program recruits landlords and tenants to curb drug activity. Meetings at Frederick City Hall will explain leases that bar trafficking and drug use, with evictions possible without criminal conviction. The plan involves about 10 percent of Maryland rental properties and aims to reduce drug problems near public housing areas. Sunshine Management Corp. has participated since 1989 after drug issues arose on West South Street.
