Kamin Acquitted on Two Contempt Counts in McCarthy Inquiry

U S District Judge Bailey Aldrich acquitted Leon J Kamin on two contempt counts and dismissed two others in a six count indictment. The acquittals stem from Kamin's refusal to answer questions about Communist ties at Harvard posed by Senator McCarthy in a Jan. 15 1954 hearing in Boston. The judge ruled the questions were beyond the subcommittee's scope and amounted to a fishing expedition. The case leaves two counts still pending against Kamin.
