Mask effect and arousal shift judgments in studies
The article cites Purdue researchers showing masked children steal more candy than unmasked peers, highlighting anonymity lowering restraint. It also notes Kansas State University findings that sexual arousal shifts ratings of attractiveness, with aroused women favoring attractive men and harshly judging unattractive ones, based on photos shown to female undergraduates.

Dear Abby reader questions about family roles and manners
A reader asks how to handle adopting and birth mother labels at a wedding. Abby says introduce the adoptive mother as mother and the birth mother as aunt, since legally and emotionally the adoptive parent is the mother. A second reader wants us to stop pressure about more children. Abby supports the couple's choice to remain with one child. A third asks about pointing out flaws in others clothing. Abby says warn a visible flaw as a courtesy, but avoid petty corrections like a run in stockings or loose buttons.
