Guns Exemption Under 1968 Act For Hunters and Sportsmen
The Gun Control Act of 1968 does not apply to firearms used for hunting target shooting or lawful purposes. Registration applies only to gangster type weapons such as machine guns sawed off firearms bazookas rockets mortars bombs mines and similar devices. A 30 day grace period from Nov 2 is set for registration. Firearms already registered need not be re registered and forms are available at IRS offices. Information provided for registration cannot be used in criminal prosecutions for prior violations.
