Jeffersons Sewer System Put Into Use
A section of Jeffersons sewerage system is now in operation from the post office west to the Valley Elementary School area with future expansion planned by December 1. The new line carries waste mainly by gravity to the treatment plant, serving about one home, while the town’s main section awaits completion of a pumping station. The plant now serves about 700 people at 75,000 gallons per day, with five more homes to be added along Old Middletown Road once work resumes. Population forecasts rise to 550 in 1974 and about 1,000 by 2000, with developers planning homes near the Eustalea aluminum plant to support growth. three plant additions are planned based on development pace.
