Lumber Schooner Burned at Sea

A schooner named Lilie J Pollard bound from Ferranding to New York with lumber burned at sea after an engine room blaze started by a match. Captain Powell and crew survived with help from the steamer Admiral Schley, which arrived about forty five minutes later amid high seas. The ship, 471 tons, built in 1891 at Milton Delaware, was owned by Bretson and Winamore of Philadelphia.
