Flooding Traps Homes on Monocacy Bottom Road
In Maryland south of Buckeystown heavy rain has left Monocacy Bottom Road flooded by the Monocacy River trapping about 100 residents in 33 homes. Residents said the area floods 5 to 7 times a year, with some leaving for motels while others stay home to manage children and safety. Rescue helicopters are used in dry weather but not during rain, and officials have discussed rerouting the road for wetlands impact with no start date yet set.
