Rockville files 27 million suits over embezzlement
Rockville city officials filed nearly 27 million dollars in civil actions tied to the embezzlement of more than 204000 from the city by former treasurer Brett Brott. The suits name the Insurance Company of North America agent Hawke and seek 500000 in compensatory and 5 million in punitive damages, with additional counts against Brett for deceit and misrepresentation. Breach of contract and negligence claims allege failure to cover losses and improper premium handling. Hawke, indicted on related charges, awaits trial while denying wrongdoing.
