Inmates Locked in Cells After Maryland Prison Uprising
Rioting inmates at Maryland Correctional Institution assaulted guards and beat fellow prisoners during a 24 hour uprising. A correctional officer said the clash was inmate against guard with snitches targeted, warning many could have died without swift admin action. About 1,000 of nearly 1,600 prisoners remained confined on Tuesday, over three days since the disturbance. An unrelated Brockbridge Facility incident saw 50 inmates refuse to return to dorms over ice access in hot weather.
