A 1¢year-old Frederick youth bowled a 615 series the second highest this season by any youth bowler. Patrice Cochran added games of 172 245 and 198 earning two Youth Bowling Association trophies. Sister Barbara, 17, earlier posted 579 with a 243 game. Other notable scores include Miriam Oland 613 and Mrs Oland's 15th 600 set, while Charlie Flair led the men with a 643 in the Civic Fraternal league.

Frederick boys and girls begin the 1966 BPAA All-America Youth Bowling Championships opening round at Terrace Lanes. Matches run May 31 to June 2 with two blocks of three games each and regional and state qualifiers leading to Washington DC competition for national titles and college scholarships. Defense Minister Paul Hellyer told the House of Commons that Canada paid about 1.426 million dollars for the Royal Canadian Air Force airlift to landlocked Zambia. The expenditure covered salaries for 316 servicemen involved in the operation.
