Treatment School to aid youths with behavioral disorders
Fred Thomas, financial planner, said the project aims to serve children and adolescents with emotional, social and learning disorders and reintegrate them into society. About 100 jobs would be created in housing, teaching, maintenance and administration. The $100,000 per student cost is funded entirely by Maryland Medical Assistance. The 40 bed facility targets Western Maryland students and faces initial opposition over integration into county schools, traffic and water concerns. The county plans a public hearing on economic development bonds with no added liability, hoping to begin building this summer and open in fall 1996.

County Officials Consider Supervising Fire Company Records
During audits, officials note that inadequately maintained records extend audit time and require treasurer corrections. A consultant or county staff could monitor five companies and provide training costing 8,000 to 10,000 dollars, to be funded from fire company appropriations. Reeder favors withholding funds until records improve. Reinhart opposes.
