Corn Field Insect Advice From Extension Entomologist
Timely tips from Mr. Ted Bissell of the College Park Extension Office advise spraying two pounds of Levin per acre on young corn to curb black flea beetles. If plants are three to four inches high they may outgrow damage. smaller corn is at higher risk. For alfalfa weevil, spray stubble at first harvest to protect regrowth with Guthion or Malathion Methoxychlor. Aphids also plague roses and shrubs as noted.
