Sheriff revamps Frederick County operations and no longer ties to task force
Six months of changes include cutting direct ties with the federal narcotics task force to curb drug traffic locally. Two deputies were assigned in Washington, DC, now reassigned to local intelligence. A Tips line aids anonymous crime reports, with warrants and seizures ensuing. Programs target inmate substance abuse with post release monitoring and a no smoking policy starts July 1. Six college interns will learn various law enforcement facets, aided by training resources at no county cost.
