New monument honors Korean War veterans
Frederick County Korean Veterans Memorial Committee builds a granite memorial in Memorial Park with a center stone six feet tall and two six foot wings. The centerpiece lists the war dead while the wings bear the living veterans names. Weighing 7,800 pounds center stone and 4,000 pound inner wings, 3,500 pound outer stones, flagstone surrounds the monument. Ten lighting fixtures will illuminate it. About 330,000 more is needed to finish funding before the June 24 dedication.

Walkersville marks its ninth annual Memorial Day at Memorial Park Sunday May 27 at 3 p m with Lt Col Christopher Sidor inspecting Fort Detrick as speaker and kiwanis sponsorship.
